Former public house, probably originally a farmhouse. C16-C17 in 3 phases.
Timber framed and plastered with a pantiled roof. 2 storeys. 3-cell form.
Windows mainly C19 casements; 2 doorways each with C19 4-panelled door.
Internal stack with moulded brick base, the upper part of the shaft-rebuilt in
plain form. A small C19 stack against the right gable end. Frame in 5 bays,
with small gaps at the 2 joins. The 2 bays to left are mid C16: fine close
studding to upper floor; a large diamond-mullioned window in the gable; queen-
post roof with cambered tie beam to open truss. Centre 2 bays are later, with
a chamfered-joist ground floor ceiling and good first floor framing. Service
end to right probably added in early C17.
