Description

WEYBREAD CHURCH ROAD
TM 28 SW
1/129 Holiday House & Holiday
- Cottage (formerly listed
29.7.55 as Holiday House)
GV II

Former farmhouse, now used as 2 dwellings. C16 and early C17, in 3 phases.
Timber framed and plastered with a roof of glazed black pantiles. 2 storeys
and attic. A hall range with flanking cross-wings. The parlour wing to the
left has 3 identical panels of incised pargetting to a foliage design; the 2
panels on the side wall, which are the best preserved, have scalloped borders.
Scattered fenestration: casement windows of C18, C19 and C20; 2 original
mullioned windows to rear. The parlour wing has an original 5-light mullion
and transom side window and a moulded tie beam carried on brackets carved with
flower motifs. The hall range has a lobby entrance with C20 4-panel door.
Heavy stack to hall range and a smaller stack within the service wing. Much
of the original structure is visible internally. Both wings are C17
additions; the parlour has an ovolo-moulded cross-beamed ceiling and in the
service wing there is a C17 straight stair.
