1/140 The Old Horseshoes
Former farmhouse, latterly a public house. C15 and late C16. Timber framed
and plastered with a thatched roof. 2 storeys and attic. Various casement
windows, mostly old; a small first floor diamond-mullioned window to the rear.
Lobby entrance with hipped thatched porch and C20 door. Rendered internal
stack. The portion of the house to the right of the stack is a medieval hall
range, raised about 0.6m and re-roofed in late C16. Against the stack is a
mutilated moulded and crenellated beam, probably the dais beam. The inserted
ceiling has closely-spaced plain joists. The former open truss, with arched-
braced cambered tie beam, is now set in a partition wall. Most of the timbers
of the later section are visible internally.
