-- II

Farmhouse. Early C17 main range with possibly earlier work to rear. Timber
framed, with a C17 parapet gable end to the left. C19 red brick casing to
facade, some exposed studding to rear wall. Roof plaintiled to front and
pantiled to rear. 2 storeys. 2-cell form. 3 windows, mid C20 large-paned
casements under segmental arches; C19 boarded door to right. The parapet
gable end has a moulded brick panel, containing a shield bearing the date 1568
and initials 'IH' and 'AM', probably reset from elsewhere on the house. Above
are 2 further panels which may have been small attic windows. There is an
integral stack. The upper rooms have an ovolo-moulded cornice. To the rear a
1 1/2 storey plastered and pantiled service range, perhaps once detached, with an
axial stack abutting the main range. Some good framing, limewashed, with
blocked diamond-mullioned windows.
