5/32 The Timbers
House. Circa 1500 with small later wing to right. Timber framed and
plastered with a thatched roof. 1½ storeys. Casement windows of mid C20 date
to ground floor, C18-C19 casements in 2 eyebrow dormers to upper floor. C20
boarded door. Internal stack with rebuilt shaft. Later addition also timber
framed, faced in colourwashed brick, with a roof of glazed black pantiles.
Gable stack. A former open hall house, probably with 3 cells. Modernised
interior: some exposed framing with reversed braces. In the hall some C17
panelling, brought from elsewhere, with fluted Ionic pilasters and the
inscription 'Verbvm Domini Manet In Eternvm'.
