STRADBROKE
Barn 450m north east of Wilby Hall

II

Barn. C16. Timber framed and weatherboarded with a pantiled roof. 4 bays.
Frame has a middle rail and reversed corner braces; studding about 70% intact.
The 2 bays to the south were originally floored over: 3 diamond-mullioned
windows at the upper level are intact and there is evidence for the others.
Good unaltered queen-post roof with an original upper row of collars,
unrelated to the main trusses, and clasped purlins. Arched braces to tie
beams replaced by bolted-on knees. Although now isolated, it seems likely
that this barn was once part of a farmstead.
