8/101 The Maltings

House. C16-C17 with later alterations. Timber framed and plastered; red
brick facade at'the front with C18 brickwork to the right and C19 to the left.
Pantiled roof with glazed black tiles at the front. 2 storeys. 3-cell main
range with wing to rear. 3 windows, C19 casements; C18 gauged brick and C19
segmental arches. Lobby entrance with C19 gabled porch and boarded door.
Internal stack with original plain oblong shaft. Small gable stack to left.
Interior of main range shows evidence of considerable alteration, with late
C17 or C18 joists in 2 ground floor rooms. At one time there may have been a
cross-wing to the left. Rear wing has ogee-moulded floorbeams.
