GV II
House. Late C16/early C17, probably in several phases. Considerable late C18
and C19 alterations. A large house of H-shape plan with flanking cross-wings;
a further short section parallel with the central range to the rear. Timber
framed and plastered with a roof of concrete pantiles. Wooden modillion eaves
cornice. Wings have plain bargeboards with spike finials. 2 storeys and
attics. Sash windows with glazing bars, those to the upper floors with only 6
panes; 4 tripartite windows to ground floor. Hoodmoulds to all windows.
Ground floor between the wings is set forward, with a 2-storey splayed porch.
Mid C20 replacement doorcase: fluted pilasters, triglyph frieze and pedimented
dentil cornice; 6-panel door. 2 stacks with heavy plain white brick shafts.
One ground floor room has a C17 ceiling with a band of vine foliage around the
border.
