North Lane Farmhouse

Farmhouse. In 2 sections: part of a much altered medieval range with early
C17 2-cell cross-wing to south west. Modernised mid C20. Timber framed and
roughcast-rendered with pantiled roof. 2 storeys. Mid C20 small-paned
casement windows. Half-glazed 4-panel door in earlier range. Heavy internal
stack between the 2 ranges. Cross-wing has exposed floor structures with
plain and slightly chamfered joists. One wall has intact studding and 2
original windows, one with transom: both have ovolo mullions between which are
small diamond glazing bars. Medieval section comprises lower bay of hall and
service cell: heavy plain joists, evidence for service partition. Walls
raised in C18 or C19.
