House. Early-mid C17 with C19 red brick wing to rear. Timber framed and
plastered. Roof slated at front and pantiled at rear. 2 storeys and attic.
Windows mainly C18 mullion and transom casements, without glazing bars. 2
late C19 sash windows to ground floor. Good original central 2-storey porch
with upper floor jettied on 3 sides; mid C20 three-quarter glazed door. To
left of porch a late C19 lean-to greenhouse. Internal stack with small
rebuilt shaft. Small well stair with turned balusters, some parts altered.
Main rooms have ovolo-moulded bridging beams and cornices. Some good first
floor studding with reversed braces. Roof has 2 rows of diminished butt
purlins and evidence for original dormers; the principal rafters have cruck-
like braces, removing the need for tie beams at eaves level. Right hand
ground floor room has early C19 corner cupboard with fluted pilasters and
arched head.
