House, latterly 3 dwellings. c.1520, stack and floor inserted and reroofed in
C17, extended and altered C19 and C20. Timber frame, plastered and part brick
cased. Red brick, clay lump and flint additions. Hipped thatched roof.
Originally a small 2 bay open hall with cross passage in storeyed
service/solar bay to left, stack inserted in upper bay, extended slightly at
upper end. Now all 1 storey and attic. Original cross passage entrance to
left is blocked. Lobby entrance with a boarded door. Four 2-light glazing
bar casements, all with hoodboards. Three 2-light glazing bar dormers with
leaded hoods. Ridge stack to right of centre. To right brick quoining to
brick end wall, ground floor 2-light casement with a segmental head, 3 lights
above. Left end 2-light casements, some flint and brick casing. C19 external
stack. To rear a C19 clay lump and brick pantiled 1 storey and attic lean-to
addition with a rear stack, further C20 addition to rear right. Interior:
three 4 centred arches from cross passage into hall, that to centre altered,
original base plate, hall has a 4-light chamfered mullioned window opening,
bar stop chamfered inserted binding beam, large chamfered arched braces to
originally open central truss with crown post mortice in tie beam. Storeyed
end has diamond mullioned window opening with shutter grooves, tension
bracing, reverse curved bracing.
