Large house. 1827 for Rev. W. Pemberton. Red brick. Slate roof. An
irregular L on plan. 2 storeys and attics. Entrance front has 3 bays of
unevenly spaced glazing bar sashes in flush moulded frames, gauged brick flat
arched heads, left window replaces original entrance. First floor 3:6 pane
sashes. Entrance to left in a small hipped projection in angle to service
wing, reset 6-panelled door with a semi-circular traceried fanlight and Doric
doorcase with dosserets to open pediment. Right gable end kneelers to
parapet, extruded end stack towards rear, flanking recessed C20 sash windows.
Garden front to rear has a full height bow window to left of centre, central
French windows, glazing bar sashes, margin glazed on first floor, rendered
lintels, continuous mutuled eaves cornice, flat head. To right 3 bays with a
central entrance, to left 2 bays all with glazing bar sashes as to front,
first floor margin glazing. Roof hipped to right end attached to which is a
kitchen block with a similar flat headed bow window to garden, leaded
casements behind. Service wing outer elevation has a 6-panelled door, 2 bays
of sashes, eaves cornice, pedimented dormers, axial ridge stack, hipped roof.
Interior: staircase with moulded ramped handrail, slat balusters, simple
plaster cornices.
