- The Swan

GV II

House, latterly a public house. Late C16, altered C20. Timber frame,
plastered. Steeply pitched pantiled roof. 3-cell lobby entry plan. 1 storey
and attic. Entrance in closed brick porch with a slate hood to left of
centre, flanking C20 3-light glazing bar casements, to right a 2-light gabled
dormer. Ridge stack behind entrance with rebuilt capping. An added stack on
right gable end. Left end brick outshut addition. Interior: ground floor
quadruple roll moulded axial binding beam in hall, stop chamfered cross axial
bearer to left or parlour end. C18 panelled screen at lower end of hall.
First floor: a base cruck truss between hall bays, tenon of brace to raised
tie beam still in place. Roof has butt purlins, collars to principal rafters.
