2/120 Three Blakely monuments

Church of St. Margaret
Group of 3 chest tombs to members of Blakely family. Late C18 and early C19,
said all to have been restored in 1843. All ashlar with moulded bases and
rounded cappings. Tomb nearest church to E. Blakely, d.1796. Long sides have
2 raised vertical panels with intermediate and angle bellied pilasters with
moulded neckings. Short sides have single raised panels. 2 sides inscribed.
Middle tomb to L. Blakely, d. c.1780, and other Blakelys buried in early C19.
Lightly moulded pilasters at angles and to centre on long sides. Recessed
octagonal panels with 4 sides curved, most panels are inscribed. Furthest
tomb is to J. Blakely, d.1817, and J. Rix Blakely, d.1837. Recessed octagonal
panels with 4 sides curved, slightly cambered heads in depressed arched
surrounds, 2 on long sides inscribed. Bellied pilasters at angles. (East
