Farmhouse. Mid C16 and early C17, altered C20. Timber frame, roughcast.
Steeply pitched pantiled roofs. A long 4 bay range in 2 builds, earliest 2
cells to right with a 2 bay 'unit house' cross wing to left to form a T on
plan. 2 storeys and attics. Hall and service range has 4 broadly spaced C20
casement windows, entrances between each pair, doors are half glazed to left,
boarded to right. To centre between hall and service addition is a ridge
stack, originally external, rebuilt at cap. Right gable end boarded door
leading to loft and a 3-light casement. Crosswing projects to left with a
slightly higher ridge, gable to front with C19 and C20 casements, exposed
plates and upper purlins. 2 bay left return with ground floor casements,
axial ridge stack to rear of centre with 4 conjoined hexagonal shafts, common
base and oversailing cap. To rear a lean-to outshut and an early first floor
3.-light window with outer leaded lights, boarded doors. Interior: stop
chamfered axial and cross axial binding beams, close studding, cross passage
and service doorways had 4 centred arched heads, framing largely concealed,
diamond mullioned window openings, earliest build has arched braces in walling
and from jowled posts to tie beams, collars clasp single purlins. Queen post
roof over service addition. Cross wing has arched fireplaces, a double purlin
roof, lower butt purlins, upper collars and halved principals clasp purlins
with curved windbraces.
