1/22 Coppings Corner
Former farmhouse, c.1600. 2 storeys and attics. 3-cell cross-entry plan.
Timber-framed and plastered with cable pargetting. Thatched roof. 3-light
casements with leaded lights, of early C20. Early C20 entrance porch with
thatched gabled roof and plank door, at cross-entry. Fully exposed framing:
floor joists laid flat and chamfered (on edge and unchamfered at attic level).
Wind-braced clasped purlin roof. Open lintel led fireplace in hall, and
others, blocked, (the chimney shaft was removed in C20). A rear staircase
tower was added in early C17: good balustrading with turned balusters.
