GV II

Former farmhouse, c.1600. 2 storeys and attics. 3-cell lobby-entrance plan;
an unusually complete example. Timber-framed and plastered. Plaintiled roof
with axial original chimney of buff/pink brick with sawtooth shaft. Mainly
C18/C19 casements of 3 lights; over the entrance is one original ovolo-
mullioned window, in the gables are original diamond-mullioned windows, and in
the rear wall is another at 1st storey which projects slightly in oriel
fashion. C19 boarded entrance door. The framing is fully exposed internally.
The parlour has close-studding, an ovolo-moulded bridging beam and a fireplace
lintel to match. Another lintelled fireplace in the hall and two arched
fireplaces in the chambers complete with hearths. Two-tier bide purlin roof:
the upper tier clasped and wind-braced and the lower tier butted between
principal rafters. A short central rear wing appears original.
