House, c.1530-1550 with extension of late C16. 2 storeys and attics. 3-cell
plan, originally with cross-entry, now with lobby entry. Timber-framed and
plastered. Glazed pantiled roof, once thatched; an axial C17 chimney of red
brick. Late C19 or early C20 casements, those at ground storey with
transomes. Boarded C19 entrance door. The hall has a blocked 4-centred
arched cross entry doorway, and a roll-and-cavetto moulded binding beam. In
the parlour a double-ogee moulded bridging beam. High quality close-studding:
a chamber window has one of several cavetto-moulded mullions with an arched-
headed light. A reset and incomplete C17 cross-passage screen. A C17
staircase has modest carved newel posts. The service cell to right was
entirely rebuilt in late C16.
