Parish church, medieval. Nave, chancel and west tower. Flint rubble: upper
part of tower in red brick. Freestone quoins: the nave walling is of C11/C12
and has areas of herringbone work. The church is without parapets or parapet
gables. Two C12 lancets in the nave, one with shallow carving. The north
doorway has C11/C12 jambs, with a C13 hoodmoulded arched head. Much mid C14
alteration: 2-light C14 windows in nave and chancel and a 3-light east window,
and plain south doorways. Narrow deeply splayed chancel arch: restored
sidelights with pinnacled hoodmoulds on east face. A low-side window in the
chancel, square and unembellished. C15 tower with flushwork patterns in the
parapets: the upper section is of late C16 or early C17 red brick with simple
2-light belfry windows: the nave face of the tower has buttresses rising from
squinches with carved grotesques beneath. The nave has a scissor-braced
coupled-rafter roof, with a cornice moulded in the C14 manner. The chancel
roof is probably of a similar date, but is ceiled apart from the cornice.
Octagonal C14 font with traceried panelled sides. 4 C15 poppyhead benches,
and another perhaps C17 and crudely-formed.
