5/149 Woolpit Family Butcher,
- Fish and Chips, and
Bernies Hairdressers
Three shops, with dwellings above. Built as two houses, early C16 to right
and late C16 to left. Remodelled mid C19. Timber-framed, encased in c19
painted brick. Slated C19 roof. 2 storeys. 6 windows. C19 small-paned
sashes with segmental heads. Three half-glazed panelled C20 entrance
doorways, each with a gabled plaintiled porch, cantilevered on wooden
brackets. The fish and chip shop has good early C16 double-ogee moulded
ceiling joists. The 1st floor was originally long-wall jettied towards the
street and the bressumer remains, with embattling and cresting.
