Museum and meeting rooms. Early C16. 2 storeys. 2 bays. Timber-framed and
plastered, the framing fully exposed with plaster infill panels: arch
windbraced close-studding. The first floor was originally long-wall jettied
towards the street, the front wall being pushed forward in C18/C19.
Plaintiled roof. At 1st storey is a linked series of 4 windows; the outer
pair are 3-light casements, the inner pair mullioned. All have diamond leaded
glazing. At ground storey is a pair of hipped plaintiled-roofed bay windows
linked by an open gabled porch on posts and carved into the lintel is "1914 IN
MEMORIAM 1918". Boarded inner entrance door. Crownpost roof exposed in upper
room: plain square posts with 4-way plank braces; a pair of long renewed
rising braces from the tiebeam.
