BROME RECTORY ROAD
TM 17 NW
House. Right hand section probably medieval, with C18 inserted ceiling; C16
single-cell in-line addition set slightly forward to left, with higher eaves
and a less steeply-pitched roof. C16 section extended to left in mid C20.
Timber framed and plastered. Roofs have double Roman tiles to front slopes
and pantiles to rear except for mid C20 addition which is all pantiled. 2
storeys. Small-paned casement windows. Internal stack within older section,
at the junction of the 2 ranges. Plank door to rear. Modernised interior
with exposed framing. C16 section has heavy reversed braces and evidence for
diamond-mullioned windows on the first floor. The eaves of this part have
been raised about 0.3m from the original wallplate.
