5/59 Whitehouse Cottage
House, at one time subdivided into 3 cottages. Second half of C17 with later
additions. Timber framed and plastered under a thatched roof. 2 storeys and
attic. 3-cell form. Various old small-paned casement windows. Boarded
entrance door. Internal stack; gable stack to left. Set forward to the right
is a lean-to addition, mostly weatherboarded, with a pantiled roof. Rear
lean-to is probably C18, the main roof continued down over it. Modernised
interior. Regular plain studding with straight primary braces. Small joists,
either square or set flat. Roof has 2 rows of stepped butt purlins.
