House. Mid C17; altered in C18 and C19 when used as a schoolmaster's house.
Timber framed, entirely cased in C18 and C19 red brick. Roof pantiled to
front and plaintiled to rear, the left end being hipped. Ogee-moulded eaves
cornice. 2 storeys. 3-cell, lobby entrance type. 3 windows, C19 3-light
casements under segmental arches. Mid C20 lean-to porch with 6-panelled door,
the 4 upper panels glazed. Another door to the right has 4 glazed panels.
Internal stack; small gable stack to right. Attached to the rear is the
former village school, now a doctor's surgery. This was erected c.1740
through a gift of land and money from Thomas Maynard of Hoxne Hall. Red
brick, hipped plaintiled roof. Single storey. Main front has central semi-
circular headed doorway with gauged brick arch, stone springers and key; half-
glazed 4-panel door, 2-light semi-circular fanlight. Interior of house not
fully inspected but most of structure said to be concealed.
