Thimble Cottage and Well


Two houses, built as one in early C16 or earlier: a wing added to right in mid
C19. 2 storeys. 4-window original range. Timber-framed and plastered.
Pantiled roof, once thatched. An axial chimney of C19 or earlier with
plastered shaft. Mid C20 casements. C20 flush door with glazed panel to
Thimble Cottage. Unmoulded framing exposed at Well Yard: heavy medieval floor
joists, tension studbraced walling with evidence for diamond mullioned
windows. The right hand gable of the original building is end-jettied
(concealed by C19 addition).
