White Cottage and Fraisnor

II

Two houses, built as one farmhouse in mid/late C16. Alterations of mid C20.
2 storeys. 3-cell cross-entry plan. Timber-framed and roughcast. Plaintiled
roof, hipped at either end. An axial C16 chimney of red brick and a C19
chimney to left. White House has C20 casements. Fraisnor has plastic small-
pane casements of c.1980. C20 boarded doors to both houses, the left hand one
being at cross-entry position. Interior: White House comprises the cross-
entry and service cell. Twin service rooms (now united). The chamber above
extends over the cross-entry, as far as the chimney which backs onto the
cross-entry. Unmoulded C16 framing exposed: unchamfered floor joists laid
flat. The house was extended to left by one bay in mid C20.
