4/80 Inn sign, 10m east of The
- Five Bells Inn
Brick pier, late C17 or early C18: believed to be the survivor of a set of 4
once standing at the entrance gateway to a drive to Hesset Hall (demolished
C18). Now used as an Inn Sign for the Five Bells Public House. Red brick:
patterning of burnt headers on each face. About 0.6m square, and about 4m
high. The plinth is about 1.5m high, with moulded brick cornice and weathered
offset. At the head is a further cornice and a flat lead capping. A wrought
iron frame with scrolled crown supports the inn sign.
