Farm House

Estate farmstead buildings. 1876 by Philip Webb for the Nether
Hall estate; with C20 extensions. Weatherboarded timber frame on
brick plinth. Pantile roof with gabled ends, hipped roof over
south range.
Built around a yard with large double-span covered yard as shelter
on west side, to south of which are cattle sheds with a loft above
and with single storey ranges around north, east and south sides
of yard.
On north side 3 gable ends face yard that to left (south) has
gabled loft door on its left return, the two larger right hand
bays are the ends of the covered yard and open below the gables.
The other lower single storey ranges have C20 lean-to sheds
against them. The large C20 farm building immediately to west is
not included.
Interior: The covered yard has very wide double span roof with
large braced tie-beam trusses, the arcade plate supported on
timber posts with straight braces; the wind-braces, purlins and
common rafters are intact.
Note: Manor Farm was originally the home farm of the Nether Hall
estate.
