Description

ASPALL EYE ROAD
TM 16 NE
4/11 Barn immediately west of
- Tawny's
GV II
Barn. Late C16. Timber framed, tarred weatherboarding. Roof clad in
corrugated asbestos. 4 bays. Cart entry in second bay from north, with
gabled porch to east and boarded cart doors to west. Mostly intact oak
studding with a middle rail all round; curved wall braces on the outside. One
tie beam retains original curved braces to the wallplates. The southernmost
bay was partitioned off for use as stabling: the original floor and most of
the studded partition survive, and there is evidence for diamond-mullioned
windows on both floors. C19 floors in 2 other bays. Roof has one row of
wind-braced clasped purlins, most of the rafters missing. Brick threshing
floor. Included for group value.
