1/27 Gosling Hall

Former farmhouse. In 2 parts: early C16 hall range to left, late C16 parlour
addition to right. Renovated mid C20. Timber framed and plastered, pantiled
roof. 1½-storey hall range, 2-storey parlour block. Mid C20 casement windows
with small panes. One gabled dormer. Parlour block has lobby entry: mid C20
gabled porch and plank door. The stack, heating both sections, has a rebuilt
plain shaft. Earlier part in 2 bays, probably once an open hall. Open tie
beam removed. Rafters of irregular scantling, with evidence of sooting.
Upper floor has plain joists, set flat. Open fireplace on ground floor.
Parlour block has intact first floor frame with reverse-curved braces and an
intact diamond-mullioned window in the rear wall. Cambered tie beam. Queen-
post roof. The original first floor structure is largely missing, and the
ground floor studding in both sections is depleted.
