1/30 Ash Tree Farmhouse

Farmhouse. C17; in 2 phases, the parlour end the later. Early C19 service
wing to south. Timber framed and plastered, roof of concrete pantiles. 2
storeys. 3-cell form. 3 windows, mid C20 single-pane casements. C20 boarded
door. Internal stack with mid C20 shaft. Service wing is almost corner-to
corner to the rear: red brick and clay pantiles; 2 storeys; original windows
and door, all with segmental-arched heads; gable stack. Hall has bridging
beam with barred stop-chamfers; to one side the joists have shallow-moulded
soffits, to the other they are chamfered. Plain joists at service end. Cased
floorbeam in parlour. Only the main components of the frame are exposed on
the upper floor. Good original newel stair. Roof timbers renewed c.1960.
