6/51 No.52 (Debenham House)

Former farmhouse. First half of C16. Timber framed, pebbledash-rendered,
plaintiled roof. 3-cell, cross-entry type. 2 storeys. Mainly 2-light
casement windows of late C19. 2 other upper windows, one of late C17 with
moulded square mullions. 6-panel door, the 4 upper panels glazed. Wide lean-
to open porch on timber posts. Internal stack with old shaft, partly
rendered. Interior. 6-bay frame with full-height studding, partly exposed.
Tension braces in right gable end. Hall and parlour have good chamfered-joist
ceilings, the bridging beam in the hall with broach stop-chamfers. Stack has
a bay but is probably a slightly later insertion. Intact plain crown-post
roof with longitudinal bracing; the only ornament is chamfering on the crown-
post over the hall chamber.
