House. C15 core with considerable C16-early C17 alteration, including
addition of north cell. Timber framed and rendered, pantiled roof. 3 cells.
2 storeys. Various casement windows, mainly C20. To left is a mid C20 semi-
glazed door and enclosed porch. Glazed door to centre. Internal stack with
rendered shaft. Interior. Earlier work in 2 bays, the original layout
unclear. Upper floor has some good framing with arched wall braces. South
gable end has straight tie beam brace but no evidence for studding, suggesting
the house once continued further. Stack is inserted into part of south bay.
Centre bay has plain joists with original trimming for a stair. North bay is
early C17, most of the timbers concealed. Heavily sooted queen-post roof over
south bay. Remainder of roof has clasped purlins with much later
reinforcement and renewal; no sooting.
