TM 96 NE BADWELL ASH THE STREET (NORTH SIDE)

4/6 Croft Cottage


GV II


House. Mid to late C17. Timber-framed and rendered; thatched roof. An
internal chimney-stack with a plain red brick shaft. One storey and attics.
2 eyebrow dormers with 2-light casement windows; 2 2-light and one 3-light
casement windows to ground floor, all with mid C20 diamond-leaded panes. An
early C20 plank door with applied pilaster strips and ornate ironwork at the
left end. A single-storey lean-to on the left and a C20 extension at the
rear. Plain 3-cell interior in 4 bays; timbers-exposed. No middle rail to
frame; 2" chamfer to main beam, joists set flat; tie-beam cut on upper floor;
upper rooms ceiled-off below collar level, only rafters visible.
