GV II

House, with an extension on the west end previously forming a separate
dwelling. C16 and C17. Timber-framed and roughcast-rendered; clay pantiles.
2 storeys. Jettied along the Street frontage of The Dages, the extension
unjettied. 2 internal chimney-stacks with plain red brick shafts, one part
rendered; wide eaves overhang. old casement windows to most of front with
horizontal glazing bars and pintle hinges in rusticated roughcast surrounds;
similar rustication round the entrance doorway: door with 4 sunk panels, the
edges heavily moulded. A fine C16 rear wing, with the ridge of its roof
topping the Street range, has an end chimney-stack of Tudor brick with 2
moulded bases to the missing shafts. Good interior with close-studding; main
beam on ground floor with ovolo-moulding and unusual thistle stops; open
fireplace with moulded brick surround. The addition to the front range which
has C20 standard windows and a plank door with glazed panel is included only
for Group Value.
