Farmhouse. Later C18 and early C19. Red brick with some blue headers; hipped
roof with old plaintiles to part of rear slope, C20 replacements to front
slopes. 2 storeys and later attics; the main range and a rear service wing
form an 'L'. The main part of the front is in 3 bays with a plain parapet and
bricks laid in Flemish Bond. 3 windows: the outer windows on each floor have
small-paned sashes with diminished side lights; the central window on the
upper floor is a plain small-paned sash. Flat arches with gauged heads to all
windows. Slightly recessed entrance door with 6 flush panels, the top 2
glazed; reeded architrave with oval corner medallions; open triangular
pediment with dentils: On the rear wall, 2 chimney-stacks built in English
Bond, one within a small gable, possibly indicate an earlier core to the
house. The interior has doors with raised fielded panels and an entrance hall
with framed newel stair: stick balusters, open string with brackets to tread-
ends, ramped handrail. To right end of the front range is an apparent
addition, walled in C19 brick, without a parapet, but with a dentil cornice.
A small-paned sash window to each storey. Similar red brick and dentil
cornice encases the C18 rear service wing: formerly timber-framed, segmental
arches to doorway and windows, now all C20 casements. Interior in 2 bays,
high, with rough main beams and joists on edge. Attached to the right corner
of the front is a length of high curved red brick garden wall.
