6/1 Queen's Head Inn
Public house. C15 or early C16 core with later additions at both ends. Timber
framed, mostly cased in colourwashed brick, only the left hand gable end
plastered; thatched roof. One and a half storeys. 3 windows, C19 3-light
casements with diagonal glazing bars under segmental arches. 2 boarded aoors.
2 catslide dormers. Internal stack. To the right is a parapet gable end,
probably late C17 but the upper part now rebuilt; integral stack.
Colourwashed brick range to rear. Evidence for the earlier core is visible in
the rear wall where there is heavy arched-bracing passing through the present
floor level. In the bar area on the ground floor there are exposed flat
joists, those to the left of the entrance heavier and probably C16.
