3/8 Manor Farmhouse
Farmhouse incorporating the remains of the manor house of Brampton Hall,
largely destroyed by fire in 1733. Late C16 with C18 and early C19
additions. The earliest part comprises a single cell of a timber framed house
originally extending further to the west: this is now mostly encased in red
brick, with a roof of glazed black pantiles. 2 storeys and attic. One
window, 3-light casements; doorway with C19 4-panel door (the upper panels
glazed) and open lean-to porch. To the left is an C18 parapet gable end with
integral stack; this has early C19 mock Tudor octagonal corner buttresses with
crenellated parapets. The gable end of the early C19 wing to the rear is in
marching style. Set forward to the right is a small gabled addition, probably
C18, part red brick and part plastered. The interior has some studding and
joists exposed on the first floor.
