- II

Farmhouse. Early C17. L shape plan with service wing to rear. Timber
framed, the facade and the left hand gable end cased or rebuilt in late C19
common brick; some exposed framing at the gable ends. The service range has
exposed framing to the front, plasterwork to the rear and has an C18 brick
gable end. Pantiled roofs, with glazed black tiles to the front of the main
range. 2 storeys and attic. 3 cell form. 3 windows: some lace C19 tripartite
sashes, some older casements, all under segmental arches; lobby entrance with
4-panel door. One internal stack and to the right a good C17 external stack
with one large offset with tumbled brickwork; the upper part of this stack has
been rebuilt. The service range has a parapet gable end and 3 slatted
windows. To the rear of the main range is a staircase wing with original C17
dog-leg stair with turned balusters and newel posts. Part of the timber frame
is exposed, with close studding in the rear wall at ground floor level. Floor
beams with double stop-chamfers; some original doors. The service range has
more of the original structure exposed, including some ovolo-moulded mullioned
windows; there is evidence to suggest that this range may originally have been
detached.
