Originally one house, later extended and converted into cottages; now 2
dwellings. C16 and C17 core; altered and extended early C19. Originally
timber framed, rebuilt in C19 red brick, the facade and gable ends with mid
C20 render. Pantiled roof, with glazed black tiles to the front slope. 2
storeys, with attics in the matching taller sections at either end of the
range. 5 windows, mid C20 casements; one boarded entrance door to front.
Heavy stack at the junction of central and left hand ranges. The central
section has a good early-mid C16 moulded beam and joist ceiling on the ground
floor, and an open fireplace together with the original lintel with double-
crenellated decoration. There is evidence to suggest the ceiling may have
been inserted into an earlier open hall. The transverse floor beam is set
clear of the stack (rather than being embedded in it) and is not moulded on
the side facing it: this would seem to indicate that a smoke bay preceded the
stack. The left hand dwelling is probably an early C17 parlour addition: the
original first floor structure is exposed. The roof appears to have been
entirely renewed in C19.
