Farmhouse. Late C16. 2 storeys. Timber-framed and rendered;, thatched roof.
One internal and one end chimney-stack, both with plain red brick shafts. A
C19 brick wing with dentil cornice. Old 2-light and 3-light casement windows.
Plank door. Timbers exposed inside: frame in 4 bays, including a chimney-bay;
the end bay on the south may be an addition. Full height studs; cranked
reversed braces; main beams with chamfer and curved stops; one open fireplace
with a plain timber lintel. On the upper floor on the front is a blocked
original 4-light window with hollow-chamfer moulding to the mullions. The
upstair ceilings, with joists set flat, are a later insertion; the roof is not
accessible. The farmstead was formerly called Gatehouse Farm.
