House. Mid C16 core, later exterior dated 1878. 2 storeys. Timber-framed,
encased in red brick, partly patterned in white and black bricks; clay
pantiles. An internal chimney-stack with a plain square red brick shaft and
one end stack, 5 cross windows to each floor. An enclosed porch, contemporary
with the facade, has a high arched front of patterned brickwork concealing a
flat roof; C20 plank door. The front has patterns in black headers between
the windows, including St. Andrew's crosses, and below the upper windows is a
brick band of several courses patterned in white and black. Similar but
larger patterns in black are on the west gable, including the date 1878. The
east gable and back walls are in plain red brick. The interior has a basic 3-
cell lobby-entrance form, with a considerable amount of the timber frame
surviving: the central 2-bay ground-floor room has a very heavy chamfered main
beam and exceptionally close joists, the spaces between them being less than
the width of the joists themselves. At the east end, the upper room has
studding and reversed bracing exposed. Roof inaccessible.
