Farmhouse. Mid to late C16. 2 storeys and attics; 3-cell lobby-entrance plan.
Timber-framed; faced in late C19 colour-washed brick, rendered on sides and
rear; pantiled roof. An internal chimney-stack with a plain -red brick shaft.
C20 casement windows and door. Framing exposed inside: widely-spaced
studding, frame in 4 irregularly-spaced bays, including a chimney-bay. To
each side of the stack the rooms have main beams and joists with chamfer and
ogee-stops. The service area, still unheated, does not seem to have been
originally divided into 2. Newel stair beside the stack. On the upper floor,
main posts with long jowls; arched braces to end and partition walls, reversed
braces to long walls; several blocked original windows. The upper ceilings
are original to the house. The roof has diminished principals, clasped
purlins and cranked windbraces.
