Redundant parish church. Medieval, restored 1880-2 by Butterfield. Nave,
chancel, west tower, south porch, north organ chamber. Flint rubble with
stone dressings; the nave is rendered. Felted roofs of very shallow pitch.
C14 square unbuttressed tower with 2-light Y-traceried bell-chamber openings;
C15 flat parapet of knapped flint. 2-bay nave with C15 2-light windows.
Blocked north doorway. The south nave doorway and porch are C19. C14 2-bay
chancel, partly re-faced in late C19: 2-light windows, C19 3-light east
window. Interior. C15 8-bay nave roof with cambered tie beams, arched wind-
bracing and a crenellated wallplate; the roof is said to have originally been
more steeply-pitched, and was raised in late C19, the wallposts supported on
stone corbels carved as heads. The late C19 panelled chancel ceiling and
stone reredos are by Butterfield. C14 piscina with cusped and crocketted ogee
arch; drop-sill sedilia adjacent. The rood loft stairs remain. C15 octagonal
font, the faces of the bowl carved alternately with shields and flowers; the
stem is later but the sub-base is original. In the sanctuary are 2 brasses
with female effigies and in the chancel one mid C18 ledger slab. Some of the
furnishings have been removed, including the pulpit, choir stalls and organ.
