- Manor Farmhouse (formerly
listed as Manor House)
Farmhouse. C16 and early C17. 2 storeys and attics to main range; a 2-storey
service wing at the south-east end. Timber-framed and rendered; black glazed
pantiles to the front slope of the roof, clay pantiles to the rear. An
internal chimney stack has a large plain red brick shaft. A fine brick gable-
end on the north-east has octagonal corner turrets with the pinnacles missing,
2 moulded string courses, and 2 3-light ovolo-moulded mullioned windows to
each storey, all blocked. The associated chimney stack has the truncated
remains of octagonal shafts, and a blank recessed panel below them. A full
height gabled porch on the front, and a lean-to extension on the back for a
later stair. 2-light and 3-light casement windows with a single horizontal
bar to lights. Inside the main range, the main beams and joists on the ground
floor are ovolo-moulded and have stepped stops with bar; moulded post-heads.
On the upper floor there is evidence that the whole roof has been raised. It
has one row of clasped purlins and one row of unstepped butt purlins. The
service wing is of slightly later date than the main range.
