Cottage. C16, in 2 closely-dated sections. 2 storeys. Timber-framed and
pebbledash-rendered; clay pantiles. An internal chimney stack with a plain
red brick shaft. 2 2-light standard windows to each floor, put in in 1985,
replace the former old 3-light casement windows. The building now has a 2-
cell lobby-entrance form, but the bay to the north of the stack is earlier
than the remainder and has queen-post trusses with very thin arched braces.
On the upper floor, on the north end, 2 blocked 5-light original windows with
diamond mullions in situ; on the ground floor, the ceiling has wide, plain
joists and a chamfered main beam with pyramid stops. The chimney-bay has
trusses with long arched braces, and on the upper floor above the lobby, a
blocked 3-light diamond-mullioned window. To the south of the stack a main
beam only exposed, with chamfer and broach stops. The roof over this section
is in 2 long bays: full principal rafters with a groove cut away for the
insertion of clasped purlins; straight collars, cranked windbraces. A C19
extension on the north, now separately occupied, is not included in the
listing.
