Barn. C16. Timber-framed and weatherboarded; corrugated iron roofing. Frame in
5 bays with very substantial studding; no middle rail; arched braces halved against
the outside of the studs. One original double door entry on the north side.
Straight tie-beams to trusses, with long supporting arched braces in situ. Unusual
queen-post roof: the queen-posts of oblong section, without jowls, morticed into the
soffits of the arcade plates, and the collar above straight and narrow with
chamfered edges, birds-mouth-jointed over the arcade plates. Arched braces from
queen-posts to arcade plates, and arched tension braces from queen-posts to tie
beams. A late C17 full height porch added on the rear of the barn has primary
braces, and a roof with one row of slightly stepped butt purlins, pared off at the
ends.
