A tablet records that Stone Hall stood on the site of the present building in
1309. No traces of this earlier building now remain. It has a C16 timber frame
but was almost completely rebuilt when it was renovated in 1937. 2 storeys, attics
and cellars. The windows are mullioned and transomed casements with leaded lights.
There is 1 original casement with lattice leaded lights. Roof tiled.

Stone Hall & Nos 36 to 40 (consec) together with all the listed buildings
on the South East Side, all the listed buildings in Well Lane and Nos 1 to
8 (consec) High Street form a group.
