A house in colour-washed gault brick, now divided unequally into 2, and
including 2 shops. Cut into the brickwork of the front:
J Nixon
J.W. 1851
2 storeys. Hipped slate roof, internal chimney-stack. 2 canted bays with
moulded heads to frames and replacement sashes of c.1900. On left, C20 shop
window. 3 small-paned sashes to upper floor. Off-centre door with reeded
jambs, flat pediment, modillion cornice and metope frieze. Plain garden door
on extreme right. A John Nixon is named in White's Directory of Suffolk, 1844,
under Ixworth as 'Inspector of weights and measures'.
