4/88 Whiting Farm Cottage


Former farmhouse. Early C17, extended in late C18, C20 alterations to exterior.
1 1/2 storeys, 3-cell plan, set sideways-on to road. Timber-framed and part
plastered, west end faced in C20 brick, south side faced in C20 fletton brick.
Internal chimney stack with plain shaft. C20 casement windows and one flat-
headed dormer. Framing exposed inside. To the east of the house, the pit of
the former whiting works, disused since 1950's.
